Free TV show Downloads?

Does any one know how to download a tv show off the internet. I’ve tried loads, but I don’t seem able to get it to work. they all say its free to download, but when you log in theres a catch of $20 to subsribe. I found one good one but it keeps coming up with ERROR when I put the name of the show. All I want is Smallville, season 1-7. HELP.

I’ve used Mininova DAP and TVRSS. DAP is good but it only has shows that aren’t available on DVD or videotape. Availablility of shows and espisodes is spotty on Mininova and TVRSS but I’ve been able to download a few shows I missed when they aired.
