Do you find it weird that my boyfriend's mother gave me keys to their house?

She treats me entirely like part of family, pretty much pretends I live there already. I feel weird that she gave me a key haha, and it feels too weird to use it to go into their house with, which she’s yelled at me for before - for not using the key. We ARE entirely serious, and his parents know and widely acknowledge it and brag about it all the time.

Well she is showing you a sign of acceptance ( I think) Did you sneek in or break in before? Anyway, she could be just trying to help her son be happy. (us old folks can get kinda goofy sometimes) Just don’t disrespect her and if you ever think you two are gonna break up, give it back to her in person and tell her thanks.

Answer #2

Its nice that they treat you like part of the family. I would find it weird to use the key if i had one. But if she reeeaallly wants you too your gunna have to get use to it. haha, maybe walk in and be like ‘’knock knock.’’ I dont find it weird because you two are serious, and spend alot of time together. i wouldnt want to have to get up and answer the door all the time either XD

Answer #3

Not at all. You guys have been dating pretty seriously for a while. You seem mature and responsible. You must have made a good impression on the parents! :)

Answer #4

its a little weird but it shows she likes you and trusts you so thats good.

Answer #5

Maybe a little weird, but I’d be happy that she trusts you so much :D

Answer #6

No, I don’t think it’s weird at all. If you and your boyfriend are serious, it shows that his parents trust you and accept you into their home. That’s a pretty awesome thing. Try not to let it weird you out too much!

Answer #7

bc she dont want ya to sneak into the window at night anymore!!

Answer #8

maybe she accept you as a part of her family

Answer #9

She obviously must like you. I felt it was wierd the first time my boyfirnds mum gave me a hug so i can understand what you mean. But its such a nice feeling of being accepted like that X) x

Answer #10

Parents have feelings too, and develop attachements. Speaking as a parent……There is that fit I think we sometimes feel towards our kids gf/bf that is caring about them and accepting them like their your own daughter/son. We secretly have visions of the wedding and our future grandkids…LOL. Of course if it doesn’t happen and you two split up. Woe be it to the next ones he brings around. Believe me it’s rare but what they are telling you in their way…your more then just welcome to be a part of the family…you are family, to us.

Answer #11

She is obviously in love with you! Don’t find it weird

Answer #12

Not at all, when my husband and I were just dating I got a key to their house and eventually moved in with them before we were together for a year. She is giving you a key because she loves you like her own daughter and is trying to show you and be supportive to you and her son being together. She may also have found out say you were actually sneaking into the house at night and she didn’t like that so this way you are able to respect her and grow closer to her and the family.

Answer #13

no it just shows that she really trust you. thats a good thing

Answer #14

not at all! my mom gave my boyfriend keys to our house too! when a mother gives her daughters boyfriend keys to there home it is a sign of acceptence, and respect for him.

Answer #15

No i think that is adorable and it shows she trusts you. i wish my boyfriends parents were like that..

Answer #16

Lucky !

Answer #17

She must really trust you and she wants you to know that she likes you. I would rather have that happen then have her hate me for as long as I would be with her son if I were in that situation.
