ex boyfriend contacts

An ex boyfriend sent a picture of his first newborn after 5 years of having no contact and haven’t seen him in 6 years. Said he was wondering if email is still good. I sent him a quick congratulations and he wrote back that he was happy email was still good and wished me well. While there is nothing wrong with exchange I’m wondering what the point of that was. It’s not like we are going to be penpals. What do you think?

I think that he was just trying to kinnda “ Break the silence “ after a couple of years so that you guys could be penpals or something like that. I also think that he still has respect for you so hes just letting you know that even though he had a bad experence with you and it didnt work out that he knows how to move on and was kinnda hopeing for your congradulations and that you might tell him a bit about how your life is going. Mabe its your turn to “ Break the silence “ and send him an email about how your life is going and ask him a couple questions about his life and his family.
