Why do your earrings take so long to heal?

Why do earrings take so long to heal? I heard it was because of a foreign object in your ear and your body is constantly trying to get rid of it, can someone go into deeper discussion on this?

Answer #1

This is what I found: “ Cartilage is avascular - it has no direct blood supply. As such, nutrients must diffuse to it through the synovial fluid (or from the perichondrium in some joints) which is slow and inefficient. The slow passage of necessary materials causes a slow healing rate.”

Answer #2

they dont, they take about 2 weeks -3 months. 3 months is the average amount of time a piercing takes to heal. you just got soemthing stabbed through your flesh and a foriegn onject put in, your body needs time to heal it
