Yes … actually, you’re supposed to cook it first. Dehydrating it doesn’t kill all the bacteria.

It really depends on the dehydrator as to whether or not you cook it. I generally don’t cook any meat that I dehydrate but that is because the dehydrator that I use heats the air that it circulates.

You don’t have to cook the fish if you have a dehydrator that heats the air it circulates. If not then I would cook it in a liquid so that the fish will dehydrate evenly. Look into what kind of dehydrator you have first though because some don’t heat up the air they use.

You don’t need to cook beef … fish and chicken should be cooked. Removing moisture from the meat doesn’t remove all the bacteria in it.
