Does my pug dog have rabies???

My pug dog just went outside and had an encounter with a racoon. She chased it up a tree. When she came back inside her mouth started foaming a little bit. Does she have rabies???

Answer #1

Throw water on it to see if it has hydrophobia.

Answer #2

Rabies doesn’t start affecting an animal for at least a week. Take her to a vet, have it tested, and if you catch it early enough, they can vaccinate it before the infection takes root. But if you don’t catch it, the infection will take root, and by then, even humans are screwed.

Answer #3

Did your dog get a rabies shot?? Is there rabies in your area? Are racoons known carriers in your area…?

If the coon was rabid…and your dog caught it, there is an incubation time…However YOU can get it from the dogs saliva…
