Do you believe in God??

Okay I see a lot of people dont believe in god. I do and I respect other peoples religion and all but why dont some pepole believe in god. people who believe in god can awser this too. P.S respect each others religion please

Answer #1

I believe that everyone on earth needs to believe in something. It can be anything, God, yourself, human nature, your ability to do stuff etc etc. That is why some people are Christians and believe in God and other are atheist and believe in themselves and human nature (I hope this sounds they way I intended it too)

So basically for me because people are different they will believe in different things based on their influences in their lives. I believe in God, I was raised that way, then I decided I was an atheist and then I went back to God again. The reason is that for me believing in God makes my life better and makes me feel that I can cope better with things because I feel that I am not so alone and to me it gives my life more of a purpose ( I am not just living to die - become dust)

But then again I also do find the bible extremely contradicting in a lot of circumstances (after all it was written by humans and God himself says that all humans are sinners therefore there could be mistakes) and I hardly ever read it. I rather go to church and get my motivation from there cause they seem to go through the tedious task of trying to make everything sound uncontradicting.

Answer #2

Just want let you know that some of it is theory.

However, it’s important to understand what that means. Evolution is a fact. Biological and molecular evolution happen, mutations happen, etc. and there is no disputing it. The theory is that natural selection is the driving force behind that evolution.

Creationists keep saying “evolution is only a theory” implying that a theory is the same thing as a guess. A theory is a complex structure that explains several facts. And natural selection, like all theories, relies heavily on facts and observed data.

That theories change over the course of time does not mean they are invalid. Einstein’s gravitational theory, for example, replaced Newton’s. Does that mean gravity as Newton explained it no longer exists? Of course not. An overwhelming amount of fossil records, data, and experiments have transformed the theory of natural selection since Darwin’s time. That does not invalidate all of Darwin’s conclusions. Darwin made it very clear that what he discovered to be fact was evolution, NOT natural selection. That was a theory.

Answer #3

I love how people ignore the facts, and ignore the fact that most of Christian relgions are stolen from pagen or other relgions.

Answer #4

“Some people don’t believe in God because they don’t have faith.”

Faith is for plp who don’t want to know the truth, that’s how I view it. why should we believe in something that has no tangible evidence behind it. because the bible says so?That book was written by primitive man, I have no reason to believe in something that was made so long ago. It contradicts itself & it has disprovem of uite a few accounts. Not to mention the orginal bible wasn’t even wrote in the language Jesus spoke, so there’s something to ponder on.

There’s more proof going for vampires, fairies, & all those creaters that I myself & people who believe in the bible fancy as some child’s fantasy than God.

& scunningham, do tell where science has been proven wrong?

The consiouse, well I have a friend(near genie I swer) whose actually working on that. It can be explained why the brain & it can be explained through various of things. & here’s something, do tell me where God came from?

“Just want let you know that some of it is theory.” At least the theories has some support rather than your story of some biblical God coming out of nowhere & making everything out of nothing.

Answer #5

Practical atheism can take various forms:

Absence of religious motivation—belief in gods does not motivate moral action, religious action, or any other form of action; Active exclusion of the problem of gods and religion from intellectual pursuit and practical action; Indifference—the absence of any interest in the problems of gods and religion; or Ignorance—lacking any idea of gods

Answer #6

Yea thats truth I forgot about that part lol

Answer #7

Some people don’t believe in God because they don’t have faith. I believe in God I believe there is a life after death but some people don’t believe that because its not poven to them

~ Rebel

Answer #8

I don’t have faith in religion either, I have faith in Jesus Christ - bottom line, people will either accept or reject - He knocks on the door of hearts only so many times and if ignored, stops - and hearts wax cold - I pray that never happens to anyone…Merry Christmas !!

Answer #9

I wasn’t trying to argue - sorry if that came off blunt. I was just trying to explain that it has a lot more to do with than just lack of faith.

Thank you for understanding.

Answer #10

IF THERE WAS NO GOD THEN HOW WOULD YOU EXPLAIN YOUR CONSCIENSE. ITS THERE BECAUSE YOU KNOW WHATS WRONG AND RIGHT. RIGHT? I BELIEVE IN GOD BECAUSE SOMETIMES WHEN THINGS GET SOO BAD ITS SEEMS LIKE IT WOULD TAKE MORE THEN A MIRACLE TO FIX. THEN IT DOES GET FIXED. THATS NOT JUST GOOD LUCK. THATS GOD looking OUT FOR ME BECAUSE HE LOVES ME. BELIEVING IN GOD DOESNT HAVE TO COME FROM READING THE BIBLE AND ATTENDING CHURCH.ITS THAT INNER FEELING WHEN YOU PRAY AND YOU KNOW SOMEONES LISTING AND THAT GUILT YOU GET WHEN YOUVE DONE SOMETHING WRONG. GOD IS NOT A PERSONS NAME. GOD IS THE HOLY SPIRIT WHO DIDNT NEED TO INTRODUCE HIMSELF TO EVERONE HE SENT HIS SON DOWN AND HE WAS BEATEN AND HUNG ON THE CROSS FOR THE people THAT HE LOVED AND THEN HE CAME BACK. IF THERE WAS NO GOD EXPLAIN HIM REAPPEARING. THATS WHAT EASTER IS ALL ABOUT!!! GOD IS REAL THATS MY BELIEF AND I CAN RESPECT WHAT YOU people BELIEVE BUT MY BELIEF IS NOT going to BE CHANGED BY SCIENCE BECAUSE SCIENCE IS PROVED WRONG VERY FREQUENTLY. THATS WHY THERE ARE SOO MANY DIFFERENT SCIENTIST. THERE IS 1 GOD!! I KNOW WHERE I STAND!!

Answer #11

there is no evidence of God. If God is all powerful you would think he would have no problem proving his existance with alittle facual based proof. The bible is not proof

some keepd aksing “then who created us” who said anyone created us? Evolution expalins all that.

wrong and right are taught to us through culture. different cultures teach different rights and wrongs. thats not something we are born with.

“”IF THERE WAS NO GOD EXPLAIN HIM REAPPEARING. THATS WHAT EASTER IS ALL ABOUT!!! “” no easter is origaly a pagan holiday spring equnox. the son of a God dieing and coming back isnt exclusive to jesus, almost Jesus entire story came from another story 1000s of years before jesus

“”SCIENCE BECAUSE SCIENCE IS PROVED WRONG VERY FREQUENTLY. THATS WHY THERE ARE SOO MANY DIFFERENT SCIENTIST. THERE IS 1 GOD!! “”

science changes through new discoveries. new thories replace old outdated ones. There are a lot of scientest in different fields but 1 God is just speculation

scunningham you need to do some more research before you make these claims

Answer #12

the reason I do not believe- is that I can see where this religion originated.

it began in a small area in the middle east, and then spread around the world. if this was the TRUE religion, your GOD would have introduced himself to everyone. and this religion would have always been - WORLDWIDE.

that is not the case- until europeans came to the americas- the native population had never heard of “jesus” until they were threatened with death- they never truly cared who he was. their religion was based on the earth mother and all HER glories.

the egyptian pharaoh AKHENATEN attempted “monotheism” some 1300 years prior to christ, it didn’t work then and his name was stricken from all of the egyptian temples for it. (maybe christ heard of this story and used it).

I can not ignore history- christianity has a “born on date”- the whole world was not practicing this religion. there are many, many facts that support the non existence of “god” and only a book of borrowed stories and “faith” to support it. not buying it.

it intrigues me that this god could do all of these miraculous things “back in the day” but has not done anything substantial in the past 2000 years, why is that? there is plenty for such a “god” to do. and leaving mankind to their own designs is simply a “cop out” and skirts the issue.

should we have “faith” that elvis is still alive? faith in the easter bunny? faith in leprechauns.? if this argument was tried in a court of man- religion would lose the case. that is a partial list of why I do not believe.

Answer #13

I don’t believe in god because it was invented by people thousands of years ago, they thought gods controlled everything and that’s how prayer and worship was invented.

Answer #14

You do know there are different types of evolution to include. Cosmic evolutionbig bang Macor evolution. One species evolving into another Micro evolution_ variations in a species

Answer #15

Okay I see where your coming from jester_x but thats when you have to have faith. God wanta people to believe in him without seeing him you dont have to see someone to know if their real or not you have to have faith

Answer #16

Nobody created us, we evolved. I believe in evolution as it has been proven by scientist.

Why do I wake up every morning in a healthy condition - because I take care of my body.

The reason I am still living is because of myself, and not some magical being in the skye that can’t be proven.

Answer #17

How is it weird, even if you do believe in God, your soul goes to heaven, not your body.

Your body will decay, and will be a part of the earth re-growing.

Answer #18

no…I believe in what I know to be true like my family, friends, music, etc. I believe in…life? as far as heaven and all that…I think it is human natures way of making life like a game like mandyloo I think we just go where we came from…nature it all comes full circle

Answer #19

See, it’s not weird, it’s just the cycle of the earth and of our bodies.

Answer #20

The people who don’t belive in God need evidence that compels acceptance by the mind of a truth or a fact .

Answer #21

I respect atheist and all diffrenet other religions some of my very best friends are atheist and still have respect for them I dont judge if you dont judge me

~ Rebel

Answer #22

He didn’t say that we are made od dirt. He was agreeing with me. When you die, your body get’s put in the ground, you decay, and you become fertilizer for the earth to continue growing.

Answer #23

It’s more than just not having faith, I have faith in other things, but not in religion.

Answer #24

Okay I respect that Mandyloo

~ Rebel

Answer #25

This is a very hard question to answer, I’m not exactly sure what I belive in basically because it doesn’t sound as if it could ever happen but there was defo a person called Jesus so I dunno

But thanks for getting me thinking x

Answer #26

mandyloo Evolution explains how we got here - I find it hilarious that people ignore that. It’s all written in proof and evidence.

Just want let you know that some of it is theory.

*Charles Darwin’s On the Origin of Species, detailing the theory of evolution by natural selection.

*Scientists and theologians have written eloquently about their awe and wonder at the history of the universe and of life on this planet, explaining that they see no conflict between their faith in God and the evidence for evolution. -Science, Evolution, and Creationism, National Academy of Science

*the Big Bang theory of the origin of the Universe, although he called it his ‘hypothesis of the primeval atom’. The framework for the model relies on Albert Einstein’s General Relativity as formulated by Alexander Friedmann

Answer #27

So you believe tomboy but I don’t believe. You see your proof of God requires a belief in God in the first place. ie faith. See why I have a problem with believing in God

Popanna. I might not be atheist but that’s a very misunderstood interpretation of atheism. Most atheist are very intelligent and have contemplated all possibilities of a God/s

Scunningham. Your entire point was invalid everything you said in that post I responded to had assumptions that gear towards having to have faith in the first place. Sorry

Answer #28

If you have studied biology and the brain then - you should know where human emotion and a concience comes from. End of story. I’m not knocking your relgion - I’m knocking you saying that we get all those things from God when there is proof of where they come from.

Such an amazing being - wow. I don’t see the huamn body as amazing at all. Evolution explains how we got here - I find it hilarious that people ignore that. It’s all written in proof and evidence.

Answer #29

I don’t believe in any gods for the same reason I don’t believe in leprechauns, fairies, or Scooby Doo. The idea of god is obviously man made, modeled after ancient tyrant kings, it makes no sense at all when analyzed to any significant depth, and isn’t supported by the tiniest shred of credible evidence.

…but it works great for getting the masses to voluntarily submit to authority.

Answer #30

OK YOU BELIEVE WHAT YOU WANT AND ILL DO MY PART. I HAVE STUDIED BIOLOGY VERY MUCH I AM A NURSE AND ALSO TOOK MANY PSYCHOLOGY COURSES AND LEARNED ABOUT FREUD AND HOW OFTEN HIS THEORIES WERE PROVED WRONG. I KNOW HOW THE BODY WAS MADE UP RIGHT TO THE CELLS AND THE ELEMENTS AND HOW IT FUNCTIONS. I KNOW IN MY HEART THAT NONE OTHER THAN GOD COULD CREATE SUCH AN AMAZING BEING. GOD DOESNT HAVE TO PROVE HIMSELF IN PERSON. GOD IS A SPIRIT AND I BELIEVE. THATS ALL I WAS SAYING!!!

Answer #31

but think about this… who created uo? think about it…God. why do you wake up every morning in a healthy comdition? think about it… God. okay so God is the reasn 4 everything and the reason that you are still living. if it wasn’t 4 god making Adam and eve then we wouldn’t be here. god is real. he has to be or I wouldn’t be here right now typing this message.

Answer #32

Okay vultureofculture so you think we were made of dirt. Im not try to start a fight I just really want to know

~Rebel

Answer #33

I believe that when I die, my body will be put in the ground and just become another part of the earth. Human fertilizer to put it bluntly. I dont believe in a soul.

Answer #34

I’m atheist, so no I dont believe in any gods. there is absolutely NO proof whatsoever. until he comes down from there and slaps me round the face I wont change my opinion.

Answer #35

How do you explain your concience - by studying biology and the brain and learning things for youself instead of just assuming that some magical being made it all up. There is sceintific proof and evidence that will teach you how the mind works and why we have emotions and a concience.

Science is proved wrong very frequently you say? When? Tell me. Religion is proved to be wrong more frequently than science is.

Answer #36

I dont believe in any God - I can’t make myself believe in something that can’t be proven. After reading the bible and studying some other religions - I just found that it wasn’t the right thing for me and that I didn’t believe in any of it.

I can’t base my beliefs off of a book that was written so long ago, is hard to translate, has a milliion contradictions in it, and was written based on stories passed down by word of mouth or stories stolen from other relgions.

Answer #37

I believe in God. This word is not a name so I am not ever really familiar with this thing or being but I do believe it is the absense of our own knowledge of the universe and it helps us to label or symbolize a deep relationship we can not but help have with the unknown. It our best way to approach the Mason-Dixon line of our known world, the unknown, and the grey zone in between (no pun intended if you thought you meant our spiritual part of the brain!) The end.

Answer #38

I belive in the lord jesus and I know he is real; without a doubt

Answer #39

Yes, I believe in God. He is my all mighty. I love him :]

Answer #40

Im with you scunningham!!!

~Rebel

Answer #41

~Rebel

Answer #42

Answer #43

Okay if there is no God where do you think we will go when we die just asking
