Discrimination against a Wiccan

Ok so a wiccan friend of mine was at a gas station. She didn’t buy gas but was buying a soda and things. She was wearing a pentacle around her neck. A employee came up to ask her to leave. She asked why she was told they didn’t want devil worshipers in their store. They then proceeded to walk her out to her car. What do you think she should do? I’ve suggested the better business bureau and contacting the gas stations main office.

Answer #1

Arachnid: Then that is your problem, ok? I apologized in advance and I dont need to do it again. I wasnt having a go at athiests, I was just saying that she was a poor christian

Answer #2

Would someone please tell me why hardcore bible-humping Christians on this site tend to have terrible syntactical and grammatical skills? It seems Faithfulgirl27 is in no position to tell anyone what is right or wrong before she (I’m assuming it is a she) can learn to use punctuation and speak in coherent sentences.

Answer #3

Woah

I may not believe in the wiccan religion, but nothing about it tells me it’s about worshipping the devil. And anyway…rights to religion…it should be respected, as long as it doesnt infringe on other rights at the same time

Answer #4

“Birds of a feather flock together”

You must be talking about Chrstians like yourself. I have seem many people of different relgions comment on this post and say that they believe what happens was wrong.

I myself, am not a wiccan. I will defend them though and tell you that your information on them is completely wrong.

Educate yourself my dear.

Answer #5

cowpunk:

You can still do something about it, if the problem is due to relgion or to race. Those matters are taking very serious by the BBB, and it doesn’t matter what sign they have on their doors.

Answer #6

* What do you think she should do?

She should contact the manager and insist that the employee who did that be fired, or she’ll sue. What was done to her is illegal. If they do not fire the employee, contact the ACLU for free advice on how to proceed.

Answer #7

You can’t do anything about it.

You can try and file for religious discrimination, but the store still reserves the right to refuse service to anyone, unless that wasn’t posted somewhere.

Answer #8

Yup, and it appears that you have joined the “hypocritical bigots who cant take what they dish out” flock faithfulgirl

Answer #9

Baldwinwolf:

Don’t you know by know that Christians deny facts. Of course relgious people have used spells and witchcraft in the past - as did the first lady of the united states at one point.

It amazes me that they refuse to believe part of history because it doesn’t go with their beliefs.

Answer #10

You should really educate yourself more faithgirl. Your coming off very ignorant, and showing that you know nothing about the wiccan religion. Stop just believing what movies show you, and learn for yourself.

Answer #11

They have no right to deny you service. Contact the ACLU. The BBB will only lodge a complaint. The ACLU is a better bet for actually resolving their behavior.

Answer #12

Wiccans are not evil - what’s evil is close-minded bible thumping relgious freaks.

Answer #13

faithfulgirl27: It is practically unheard of for me to get annoyed by people’s religious points of view but, this is one of those occasions. You seem to be doing no more than using your religion to aim hatred at other people. I thought the bible was meant to preach tolerance and all that, but it seems to me that is not the case, as your above comment so clearly shows. If you cannot keep such views to yourself, then please just go away, because you may as well be an athiest, cause you dont seem to be doing a very good job of being a christian. Im sorry if this offends anyone but im only saying what I felt when I saw the above comment by the above user

Answer #14

I know all I need to know about it I know god does not approve of it and I will never condone it as far as calling me ignorant or a bible thumper it doesnt matter gods spirit lives within me and im not ashamed as far as being ignorant I would rather be ignorant to wicca than to be evnvoled in the practices of things god is pleased with jester as far as you not wanting anything to do with my god thats k cause every knee shall bow and every tongue will confess that jesus christ is lord the lord loves you and I will pray for you people cause you are the ones who are ignorant to the truth I dont care what you people think i9 will continue as a christian to stand against the wicked things of this world and to be a witness for ther one true god

Answer #15

harleyrider: Before you go telling other people to “do your homework”, perhaps you should do your own. Under the Civil Rights Act of 1964, businesses in the US are prohibited from engaging in racial or sexual discrimination when providing services; ‘private’ clubs are explicitly excluded, which is why the examples given can exist. And I hope you can see the difference between refusing to serve an intoxicated person alcohol and refusing to serve someone based on race or sex.

Answer #16

Here we go. Blah blah blah, I think it is discrimination that I can’t smoke a cig at my fav watering hole anymore, That is Bullsh*t. And it is still discrimination in my eyes if based on the color of my skin I can’t have one of the best pizza’s in Pa, I don’t care if it is a private club. Oh and lets legalize pot but lets take away from nicotine users, Hello…

Answer #17

“If you cannot keep such views to yourself, then please just go away, because you may as well be an athiest, cause you dont seem to be doing a very good job of being a christian. Im sorry if this offends anyone but im only saying what I felt when I saw the above comment by the above user”

Well yeah, I do find it kind of offensive that you would compare this hate-spouting bible-basher to atheists.

Answer #18

faithfulgirl27

You do religion no favors by such ignorant postings. Learn about something before you take off on it. I am going to do more research on Wicca myself, because I am largely ignorant of the topic. But what little I do know is that it is not about devil worship.

I’m sure there is some cult out there that is satanic, but don’t label the whole religion from what “you’ve heardI”.

I don’t know who your God is, but mine appears a bit more tolerant than yours.

Jester, you’ve had some good suggestions posted with the BBB and an attorney.

Answer #19

first of all you cant tell me to go away I will continue to speak my belifs im against evil practice and witch craft and anything that is not of god god is love I dont hate or promote hate but I have the right to say what I feel and there is nothing you can do about it if you dont like it you should go away or just not read my comments you know noting about be so you can not say im not being a good christian I hate evil and the works oif the devil and thats what withcraft is evil

Answer #20

He is right, Religious intolerance is illegal. I just can’t believe a mere bible thumper would pretend to know “everything” about Wicca! Just because it is “Condemned” By the bible does not mean that it is evil! I guess you just have to TRY things that work for you. I hate people who know nothing about something and try to pass it off as they know what they are talking about.

As for you’re problem Jester: I am pretty sure that BBB will help out. Even if they reserve the right to refuse service to anyone they are still breaking the law of religious tolerance.

Somebody keep me posted as this is very disturbing in a lot of ways and I want to help My friend ,Jester out.

Answer #21

Wow faithfulgirl how ignorant and despicable. you wonder why I have a problem with christians? That’s a prime example. You don’t even know what your saying. So much for not judging people. Wicca has nothing to do with satan. Your not part of the solution. You are part of the problem. You even refuse to listen to reason, not surprised. So you think that’s what your God is all about? No wonder I want nothing to do with him. I can’t believe people like you are still around. Would have figured our society intelligence level was better than that. Guess there are always a few to left behind in that section.

Answer #22

yep I know, but I still have to state the facts to those who are BRAINWASHED.

religious intolerance is IMMORAL, and more importantly here in AMERICA it is illegal.

so I guess that faithfulgirls flock are CRIMINALS in that they would freely choose to deny someone their constitutional rights.( kind of sets the “civil rights movement” back about 50 years)

I personally believe- to each his own, “home of the free”, freedom of RELIGION etc.

MAYBE EMPEROR NERO WAS RIGHT.

Answer #23

She should defidently contact the better business beru. I can’t believe the nerve of some people.

faithfulgirl27: What is wrong with you? I can’t believe you! Witchcraft isn’t evil! How in the world can it be satanism if one we don’t believe in satin and 2 if the bible is wrong as it is. I’ll throw you’re words right back at you: “you know noting about be so you can not say im not being a good christian I hate evil and the works oif the devil and thats what withcraft is evil” (Lot’s of spelling and grammar errors too) YOU know nothing about the works of witchcraft so you stay out of it!

Answer #24

If the gas station is owned by a person who is muslim, or any other person that is against wiccans, they can do it, its sad and stuff ya but its there right. thats why buisnesses have signs that say “we have the right to deny service to any customer” its there right to do that.

Answer #25

BLAH BLAH BLAH I GUESS ITS TRUE BIRDS OF A FEATHER FLOCKS TOGETHER

Answer #26

Man, I agree with you there!

Answer #27

I commend them for what they did standing up against evil I would feel the same way

Answer #28

I don’t think their muslim. Why would they do that. Money is money no matter who pays you

Answer #29

I agree its just wrong!

Answer #30

They should definatly talk to the better business bureau or the store manager or owner. There is NO reason for that kind of discrimination to be taking place, I dont care what ethnicity or religion the person in the gas station may be.

Answer #31

Toadaly thanks ill suggest that.

Answer #32

you people stand for darkness withches bring nothing positive to the world you are of you father the devil

Answer #33

yes the BBB would be a good start, and as much as I hate to say it- the ACLU may also help- this is a civil rights case just waiting to be tried- it is the same as turning a black person away from the store. focusing on someones race, religion, sexuality, etc. is EVIL, and I would fight it.

as far as faithfulgirl27 goes- KING SOLOMON WAS A WITCH!!,nearly every important figure in the bible used one form of witchcraft or another, the staff that turned into a serpent, it also turned water to wine, and also split the sea, I believe it was a “biblical figure” who wielded such a “witches staff” . christ himself dealt in “:necromancy” yes look at the bible it is all there- according to the bible KING SOLOMON used SPIRITS to build the temple mount in jerusalem- and he also penned a very powerful book on WITCHCRAFT called the lessor key of solomon. it is time that apples are called apples- organized religion is full of WITCHCRAFT. it is ignorance like this that caused the burning times. the christian ( and others) religion is full of all the ingredients of witchcraft- it’s very foundation was borrowed from witchcraft/ paganism. there is EVIL in this world, it’s name is IGNORANCE and HYPOCRISY. I don’t want to get into a religious debate- just throwing out some “food for thought”

Answer #34

If I were to own my own business and I pay the bills I would hope that I can choose who will be present in my store, Gee as a matter of fact there is a place like this in Pa. Called Victor Emmual’s. It is a private club and a certain race is not allowed to join. Oh and there are the V.F.W’s and the Leagion’s and the Moose’s, All priviate clubs with certain rules that do or may discrimante but guess what they can do it. So some of you need to do your homework when answering this questions. Oh yeah and at a bar I could cut off anyone that Appeared to Be intoxicacated. Even if they were not. Some may say that is wrong, but it happens, Hmmm maybe something to think about.

Answer #35

Harleyrider:

I can not believe that you are defending someone who is discriminating against someone’s relgion. It’s a public gas station, and anybody who goes there deserves to get service, regardless or their race or religion. There may be places by you that get away with those types of things - but that’s because no one has tried to sue them yet. We have places like that around here, they are only operating still because no one has put forth the effort to stop the hate. Period. Do your homework. Even if you have a sign that says you can refuse service to anyone - you can still be sued and shut down for discriminting against race or relgion. Refusing service to someone because of race or religion is VERY different from refusing someone another drink when they are falling off the barstool and close to getting alcohol poisioning. Also, no one made ciggrattes illegal - so comparing that to pot is pretty silly.
