what's the difference between accents and bad pronunciation?

Is accent really that bad?

Answer #1

An accent isn’t bad, everybody has an accent of some kind. Then you’ve got country accents, British accents, Aussie accents, ect.. Nothing wrong with it at all, although I sometimes find it difficult to understand certain accents that I don’t hear on a regular basis. Bad pronunciation is basically something that someone does who isn’t understanding how to pronounce a word correctly. Example; If I was reading, and pronounced “house” like “hose”, or “balloon” like “ball-on”, simply because I didn’t know how to pronounce those words, then it would be considered bad pronunciation. If someone pronounces a word a little differently because they have a different sounding voice, then that is because of their accent.

Everyone has an accent, it simply means the way you speak. But bad pronunciation is a whole different thing, it means you dont know how to say the word…
