What's the difference between independent, dependent, and controlled variables?

I’m doing my science project where i’m comparing what makes plants grow the fastest & healthiest. I’m using a plant with Riverbank Zoo’s Compose, Scott’s Fertilizer, and a plant with just dirt. There winter plants, and I water them every two days. The Scott’s killed the plant and the RiverBank’s Compose and the just dirt plant are thriving. I always have a issuse with chosing which is Indenpent, dependent, & controled. PLease help me and explain.

Answer #1

dependant i think is when they need that thing for the experiment to work, they depend on it and controled is something you control like volume of solution… dunno bout independant

Answer #2

Independent variable is the thing that changes Dependent variable is the thing you measure Controlled variables are the things you control

Answer #3

independent variable is that variable which do not vary with reference to different values. dependent variable is that variable which depend upon the values of independent variables controlled variables are those variables which are studied in controlled experiments conditions.
