Desperate Housewives, what's the deal?

Marc Cherry and the ABC Studios have signed “an eight-figure overall pact”, ensuring Cherry’s commitment to the show until May 2011, the end of the series’ projected seventh season. There is some speculation that Season 5 of Desperate Housewives will take place five years in the future. This was confirmed on April 11, 2008 in an interview with Marcia Cross on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. However, on April 13, 2008, in an interview with the New York Post, Marc Cherry was quoted as saying that “fans shouldn’t trust the spoiler leaks, such as the report that show will fast-forward five years. We change our finales while we’re shooting them. I did not have Nicollette Sheridan hanging herself until we’d already started that final episode. So right now, nothing’s decided.” Despite Cherry’s evasions, however, the final version of the season 4 finale, “Free,” did in fact end with scenes set five years after the beginning of the episode. Although not known for sure, USA Today reports that season 5 will start 5 years later. The child actors are not returning (I.e. Scavo’s clan), the characters Danielle, Dylan and Julie, will not be returning to Wisteria Lane, and the fate of Mike Delfino is still up in the air. However, the final episode of the fourth season, set five years in the future, saw Susan arriving home from a poker night and kissing another man. The man is played by Gale Harold.

As for Kayla, she’s never liked Lynette, (much like her mother), she viewed her as competition… in one of the episodes she manipulated the twins into burning down rick’s pizza place, and in another episode she encouraged them to jump and fly… she admitted this to lynette, who sent her to therapy. In therapy she told her doctor Lynette was abusing her. When the social workers got involved, she burnt herself and told them it was Lynette. Lynette was arrested, but Tom got a confession from Kayla, and the therapist heard it. So Lynette was freed and Kayla was sent to her grandparents…
