Depo shots and periods

I only ever got one depo shot on 1/27/09 and never went back to get another one because I hated how it made me feel. I still have not gotten a period yet. is this common or should I check every month to make sure I’m not pregnant??? help

Answer #1

im in the exact same boat as you! depo stops protecting you from the chance of pregnancy after 15 weeks. on average, it can take up to 9 months to get your period again, but the extreme is 36 months. you need to use protect as the depo is no longer protecting you, but continue to check to see if you are pregnant.

it’s common to not have a period for even up to a year after being on the depo provera shot and also some women cannot fall pregnant for even up to a year after having it.

but even though, everyone reacts differently and some women recover sooner then others, so yes, check every month that you aren’t pregnant.

Alternatively try a different form of birth control such as the pills and use condoms just to be 100% sure (that is if you aren’t planning on falling pregnant.)

Well repo is known to delay periods when you go off of it but if you had unprotected sex after your safe period witch is the date you should have gone to get your next shot you may be pregnant and if you wanted to no about a better birth control thaat is just as effective as depo it’s called implanon , I only suggest because I went off depo for the same reasons
