How do I delete shortcuts off of my desktop?

it won’t let me? I tried right clicking, and delete. But, then it says “could not find this item try, again or cancel”. I’m using windows 7.

What do I do? :(

Drag and drop into trash can or highlight the icon and click delete on your keyboard

You might need to hold the control key while deleting or emptying the trash.

Also, if you’re not logged in as an administrator, you may not be able to remove the desktop icons.

(I hate microsoft, btw, macs rock).

Thanks guys for your answers, but I figured it out now. Apparently, the reason it was going to my recycle bin, and not removing them from my desktop, was because I had to restart my computer to see the changes. :)

i think you can also right click then select delete
