How do you deal with the death of someone close to you?

Just received a call from my Mom, letting me know that her best friend from since I was a child died of an intentional drug overdose. She was like a second mother to me, and I’m not sure how to go about handling this? Any advice

It’s really hard to deal with the death of someone close to you. It may take YEARS for you to get over it, although you never really do get over it. Just try to be strong, and remember life goes on, they might not be with you physically, but they should always be in your heart.

First of all, I am sorry to hear that. I lost my father 4 years ago and it was like losing half of myself. I felt deeply hurt mostly when I saw how hard my mother had to handle herself with the lost. The day after his death we were all together in a big lunch time, there my mother said that she could bear the pain of the lost only if she could witness her children live in harmony. Basically, it is almost impossible to the feeling of such great lost so… time heals all wounds. So I would say you can share your feeling with your mother or the children of your mother’s best friends.
