How can I lighten up this dark dye?

I have naturally light to medium brown hair. I decided to go darker and have been coloring it myself with store bought die for about a year. I finally went to a salon and had it done and now it is way to dark. I want to try and go back to my natural color but cant seem to get any of the dark brown out. And the worse part is when my roots begin to grow out the look orange (hot roots). What can I do to get the dark out and try to go back natural?

me and my cousin dyed her hair when her mom wasnt home and it came out way too dark so we washed her hair with dish soap detergent stuff like 3 times and it worked pretty good try it, but if it doesnt work then u’ll need to dye it agian to the color u would like.

die it a color close to your natural color then wait for it all to grow back natural. (it looks funny when ur growing it back if the colors are waayy too different.)
