How dangerous is it to light a tea light in a plastic cup?

i ran out of glass cups and im trying to set up a romantic date and my last resort is a couple of plastic cups for the lights! ): but is it safe? it wont catch on fire will it?

the plastic cup might melt

its not covering the top or anything i cut it so its really little, i just didnt want the wax to get on my furniture, you still think it’ll melt?

well plastic usually melts with heat but as long as there is space around the candle it might not melt but it wont catch on fire

You shouldn’t really use plastic. It gives off cancerous gases when lit.
