What does "damasked" mean?

For example:- (I have seen roses damasked, red and white).

Damask rose is a hybrid rose that is very fragrant, and a source of rose oil. Unlike commercial roses that your florist carries that have almost NO rose scent.

As a side note: Damasked (or Damascus) Steel is a type of blade manufacturing that involved (to this day) widely unknown forging techniques resulting in a shatter resistant blade with a durable, micro-serrated edge.
