Covering the red shade with black dye

How can I cover the reddish color when using black dye to cover grey? I’ve used black dye to cover the grey and at the roots and it had a reddish tint .

Thanks for your response…it was really helpful. I wil go to sallys to see what will work for me.

Answer #2

then you’re probably buying hair dye with red undertones. read the labels clearly next time. if you want super black then you probably have to buy black hair dye with blue undertones. I know blue may sound weird to you but, there’s not actually going to visible be blue in your hair.. if you want professional hair dyes with clear labels don’t but one of of those stupid kits from a drug store. go to sallys beauty supply and look at the hair dyes there, and you’ll see the difference in quality. ask someone for help if you need it.

Answer #3

‘tinatodder4’ is right, you just have to read the label of the hair dye. Make sure it says “natural black” and it will work fine.

Answer #4

just like the girl before me said if you want to counteract the red tones get a black dye with a blue or violet undertone. it will turn the color a neutral black
