When the computer says "physical memory has been dumped" and it won't start, does that mean everything has been deleted?

My sisters broke it again. -.-

Answer #1

Does it give you a blue screen? Usually it is because your harddrive cables get a bit loose. What you could do is to open the box and just make sure that the cables are connected properly. But generally no it doesn’t mean everything has been deleted, just make sure that you don’t move the computer or anything.

Answer #2

Yes exactly. Is it something inside the tower or a plug ?

Answer #3

No, it’s usually a grey or orange cable, depending on the type of harddrive that you have. Don’t take anything out, just make sure it is properly in (oh and switch your pc off before you do it)

Answer #4

c:/windows/minidump…..

send me the dmp and ill tell you exacty what teh problem is.

Answer #5

The computer doesn’t start, I dunno how I’m suppose to do that. :p

Answer #6

oh sorry, i thought youd managed to sort it and its what you were posting from.

do what irene said, open it up, touch teh inside chassie [bare metal] with your hands to get rid of static and just go all over it and make sure your leads are in nice and tight but dont press on too hard.

see if that makes a diffeence…..

in all honesty when the physical memory has been dumped it just means the system has dumped everything that was in the ram into the minidump folder which is why i asked for the dmp file ;) for instance the last time i saw physical memory has been dumped on my system and it blue screened after i checked the dmp file it told me it was my gpu driver ;)

as its booting can you see the screen where it tells your various things about your system?

if so press delete and get into the bios and look for something along the lines of ‘set to default’ or ‘reset to default settings.’

so reset and see if you can now get into windows.

what operating system is it?
