Christians that don't go to church?

Why is it if someone doesn’t go to church people automatically believe that you’re 1) not a Christian or 2) you’re a bad Christian? You don’t have to go to church to worship god so why is it people look down on those that don’t go?

Answer #1

For starters, Christians who don’t go to church, and, they believe in the lord but, just don’t practice the religion, people who look down on them think that Christians who don’t believe are bad because they probably don’t understand the fact that maybe those who are inactive in there churches are having issues or just don’t feel like getting up in the morning for Sunday service is worth it because maybe they have other things to do. Anyway, its everyone’s choice to attend church if they want too or not. I personally feel that attending church is wonderful because, you get to hear the wird of god and, pluss you feel allot better going. I love church and, I hate missing Sundays unless I’m sick. But, I’m not trying to force you to attend church since its all up to you. People shouldn’t look down on those who don’t attend church since its their decision.

Answer #2

Not all Christians look down on others for not going to church. It’s just some of the stricter, more judgemental ones. They usually have nothing better to do than say bad things about other people and by doing so, they are being hypocritical and unchristian. Just ignore them and do whatever you think is right. Church is nice to go to every once in awhile because you get to learn more about God and talk to other people who share your religion. But it’s not like if you don’t go every single Sunday, you are a bad Christian.

Answer #3

Christianity is NOT a “group religion”. The basis of Christianity is those who follow Christ - if you accept Him as your Saviour and give Him your life - that includes giving your time to Him, your work to Him, your dreams to Him and truly seeking Him first, in everything you do. It is not just what you believe, it should be how you live. If you do not spend regular time in worship, fellowship and in the Word, then you have not accepted Christ into your LIFE, but perhaps have just accepted Him into your head.

Hebrews 10:25 “Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”

We are instructed in the Scripture to gather to gather on a regular bases. . .. . . I’ll find the Scripture when I get back from Church.

Answer #6

Its like a camp fire and it burns hat together, when you seperate one of the logs it may keep burning for awhile but eventually it will go out, but you pick it up and put it with the other logs on the fire and it burns hot again. you can be alone on the side and its up to you.

Answer #7

No body looks down on christians who do not go to church. It saids in the Bible that you can not be saved without a preacher. So to hear preaching and keep God’s word in your heart, you go to church to hear the word of God. You are not a bad christian if you do not go to church, you just do not take God as seriously as you should.

Answer #8

The whoile purpose of the ‘where two or more are gathered’ verse, is to undermine the Jewish/pagan idea that you had to go to some physical temple to get the attention of a god. It’s a free pass from institutional religious services.

So no, you certainly don’t have to attend a church to call yourself Christian.

Answer #9

Most people who say there Christians and don’t go to church truly arnt Christians. Its just a label for them. They think because I’m not this religion I must be Christian. But in some cases, there are people who cant make it to church because there are unable. Work should not disable you to go to church.

Answer #10

then their not considered christians because lots of christians daily have to get full with the word of god unless your like in a missionary and you can go to church.

:]

Answer #11

ok listen up mama, the idea of Christianity was based on the belief that two or more people should unite under the common interest: Jesus Christ and pray and worship him together. Christianity is very much a group religion, if your looking for a more personal religion your definitly hanging out with the wrong group.. much love

Answer #12

I personally think that going to church does not make you any better than anyone else. Lots of people will look down upon you becasue you may not go even though you worship in different ways. People are judgemental and think thaty there in the right just because they go. People there is something that you must understand. As long as you are truely saved and worship the lord in some way (reading and studying the bible) then your just as good to god as anyone else is that go. Going to church is not the issue of you going to heaven or hell bottom line. You people have a nice day, see ya.

Answer #13

I’ve actually had a lot of absences from church myself recently (this is for someone who normally goes every Sunday). There have been various reasons for this, but what I have to say is that I’m beginning to feel slightly like a fish out of water, just slightly starving to be fed properly. But the longer you leave it the less you feel like going, so I really want to get back into a situation where I can worship every week. I’m not going to look down on someone who feels differently, but that’s just how it feels for me at the moment.

Answer #15

I think it’s moreso that the bible mentions fellowshipping with other christians and that is the main place where you can do that.

Answer #16

I don’t go because if you read my church appropriate apparel ? you’ll know why.I do listen and watch sermons on dvd and cd. I do read the bible each night and I can say that I’m a lot more devoted than SOME people who do go to church. My learning about and living by God is NOT limited to 1 day a week thanks!!!Anyways Jesus says ‘The church has become so curropt and sick’ so that said he doesn’t care wether you go or not you’ll actually find a lot of sin at church also!! All you can do is get together with other christians and do a bible study, and LIVE by God!!! I do it and find myself in less temptation than people who might only read and learn about God 1 day a week o leave it to their pastor.I’m not saying I’m better I’m saying you have to give yourself to God whole heartedly not just when it’s convinent fo you!!! Have a great day,

                                                                                                                                     Chayla

PS: I’ll be praying for all the hypocrites : )
