Why do most of the characters on The Lord of the Rings have blue eyes?

Because people with blue eyes (eg. ME!) are awesome. And do they really? Like in the movies or the books? I dont recall it being specifically mentioned in the books

Hmm, this never really occurred to me actually. Nice question. I believe the girl who played Arwen was wearing blue contact lenses too. Maybe because a lot of the references were based off of Norse mythology, and generally blue eyes fit in with that?

blue eye people are cute… thats why i bought blue contacts to wear at time when i’m with the ladies..

The Tolkien’s description of elves were “grey or blue-eyed”…so, naturally, they would have light coloured eyes to fit that.
