What career could a person with a speech impediment do?

I would think a person with speech impediment can still have a wide range of careers depending one what they wish to do. Going to College or getting your GED is something they should be able to do with no problem. WHere I am (I go to University) you simply need to state your “disability” and your teachers, lecturers, and professors will know and the student will be given some leniency or extra help. My best friend has hearing problems, she was actually provided with a hearing aid and the professor has to wear around his neck something that helps her hear better as well. On top of that, with college, it is more about writing essays, listening to lectures and writing essay exams than it is about public speaking. The most speaking a student is usually required to do is a seminar in which the TA or the lecturer can easily give special leniency since the student has a speech impediment. Quite frankly, if the person set their mind to it I’m sure they will make it and be able to get the career they want perhaps with some help but definitely possible and able.

There are many options and I would suggest not placing too many limits on one”s self. We live in a very tolerant world nowadays in that regard. Not all jobs require constant verbal communication and if necessary there are other ways to communicate.

In this digital age verbal communication’s isn’t necessary to acguire an education or move on to a career. The possbilites outweigh the limitations except for the ones you limit yourself to

A speech impediment shouldn’t really stop you doing anything. If it’s a stutter, perhaps getting help with breathing techniques could help the person reduce their stuttering and they would be able to do anything :-)
