can my flatscreen monitor die if my cat lays in front of it?

I was told if my cat lays in front of my monitor it could kill it because of the hair flying and that she sheds. Is there a way to keep her off the desk?

Your cat’s hair won’t do anything to your flat-screen. There’s no air-flow inside of it, just the screen, two bulbs, a metal casing, four separate chipsets (unless its an older model) and the plastic coverings. I work on these from time to time and have yet to see ANYTHING, even mechenical dust get deeper than the covering case after years of use.

What CAN be hurt by your cat’s hair is the intake and outtake of your actual pc, as there are at least two (usually three, and maybe four) fans inside the case and the power-supply and motherboard can get coated with cat hair, causing it to be hotter than desired by slowing the fans and insulating the system unnecessarily.

To answer your question, though. Get cracked red pepper and sprinkle a little on your desk. Cats love to sniff things (just like dogs) and the red pepper will irritate their nose so bad they’ll never jump up there again. (I use this trick to keep my rat-bastard neighbor’s cats off my car.)

hmm keep a lemon slice by it, cats generally dont like citrus fruits or keep a spray bottle next to it and spray with a tiny bit of water so she doesnt go back on it
