Can my boyfriend get in trouble for being with me?

I want to know if my boyfriend can get in trouble for being with me I am 17 and he is turning 21 in july? And would it be legal for me to move out and be with him I live in sc? And how exactly would I tell my mom im leaving?

Answer #1

The age of sexual consent in South Carolina is a confusing mess. The state Constitution establishes the AOC at 14 years, but later laws establish it at 16. Either way, as far as sex goes, your boyfriend is safe.

The screwy part is that you’re still a minor until you’re 18, so while your boyfriend can’t get in trouble for diddling you, if you move out, your parents are perfectly within their rights to have you brought back.
