Can HPV go away?

I have been diagnosed with hpv, the docter said I don’t need to worry, that its not serious and he doubts that I will ever have to worry about cancer. I’m curious though, I keep hearing that certain strains can go away. Is this true, because I also hear that it is forever. Which is it?

thank you for answering my question. you said your sister doesnt have it anymore. Is it gone forever or is just dormant? I’m not trying to pry but did she have to deal with any side effects or anything?

well both is true , some can only be temporary, and some are forever. My sister had hpv when she was like 14 or 15 and now she doesnt have it, she thought it would be forever also, but luckily she had a certain strain that went away, you would want to follow up with your obgyn for more info. Your doctor saying that you shouldnt worry probably means that your okay but better to be safe
