Can felons work in the medical field

Hi, I myself am not a felon, and this is somewhat for curiosity and somewhat because I have a friend who is a convicted felon who is interested in working in the medical field (even currently enrolled in school) so I was wondering in the state of illinois can you work as a felon in the medical field say being a medical assistant?

Answer #1

If its for being an assistant then I think it is ok as for being in the field like a paramedic, nurse or doctor it not.

I know someone who is a convicted violent felon and was hired as an rn in a maryland hospital. furthermore, she has been promoted three times over the last 12 years there and is now in administrative nursing and is making six figures

she claims that they didnt know right away and later found out but kept her on. is that legal? I mean they hired her as an ICU nurse and she was convicted of attempted murder served 6 mos. in jail and two years probation, which seems kind of light to me in the first place. I’m thinking that since she had just gotten out of the military, they cut her slack.
