Why are calls recorded when speaking with a banker, or anyone pretty much?

i called the bank and told them i don’t have an account i just wanted to speak to a mortgage specialist to givve me some info on loans,etc and he kept telling me the call will be recorded..i don’t have an account, never been to the bank and called as a private caller?? why do they record them?

It is done for a variety of reasons, some have to do with monitoring how well the agent your speaking to is handling the call, the handling time, ghow well they flow through computer screens and address your issues, other reasons can account for monitoring if a problem should arise in a he said/she said scenario.
