Neither Münchausen Syndrome nor Hypochondria imply any necessary harming of oneself (though that might be done to enhance the faked symptoms without it being necessary to confirm diagnosis). Both terms refer to imagined or faked illnesses that people pretend to have. You are perhaps thinking of Münchausen Syndrome by Proxy in which the sufferer causes illness or injury in another person (often their own child) in order to gain sympathy or other advantages (like charitable donations) from others.
