How come I can't get the things I buy on the Sims3 site to download into my game?

Well,I don’t know how the SIMS series work,but I am a PC gamer so I might be of some use :] Okay,uhm…when you download them,have you tried just placing the downloaded DLC in the game directory? Or does it apply the DLC kinda as a patch? I really don’t know wtf to do .-. Well,just tell me what comes up when you download it? I’m not your best bet on your problem,you’d have a better chance with forums,but if you can reply to me telling me if it’s Manual patching or automatic patching,that will be a great help =]
