Is it bad enough that a bruise I have is getting darker?

I been leaning on my arm(like the spot next to my elbow) and a few weeks; more like a month it has gotten darker, and it’s not fading…so what should I do? Other than not leaning on it, will it ever heal?

Answer #1

They usually do get darker before they get better, but … a month? Bruises should fade away within 2 weeks … if it’s a particularly nasty one, it may take a little longer, but a bruise that lasts a month may warrant a trip to the doctor to make sure you aren’t anemic or, worse, diabetic.

Answer #2

D; Oh boy, I’ll have to see, but I been leaning on it everyday basically I wasn’t sure if I made it worse by doing so, but I’ll look and see if I can see a doctor. Thanks!

Answer #3

Well i agree with the above comment the more the bruise gets dark the nearer it gets better and eventually it fades gradually.

Answer #4

Especially when there is a bump on it? I been leaning on it everyday giving it pressure I suppose(but I’m comfortable that way hehe…) Though having this odd bruise I suppose I’ll give i a few more weeks to see any difference ;)

Answer #5

If you have been leaning on it everyday and it is near your elbow yea it is going to take a while to heal I would imagine that elbows heal like knees, extremely slowly. I have seen bruises last years on a knee

Answer #6

Yeah I had a few bruises before on my legs and especially on my knee, took a while so I pretty much estimated that it would do the same, so, just to help it should I put ice on it? Like I forgot to mention I have a slight bump on it; not too sensitive but it just feels weird when I touch it.

Answer #7

That could be from leaning on it if it feels better to put ice on it go for it but like Colleen said you might want to go see a doctor about it

Answer #8

Bruises change change color before they heal.

Answer #9

I’m pretty sure when a bruise gets darker it is healing.

Answer #10

Put a cold compress. Apply ice for about 15 minutes at a time, and always put something like a towel or wash cloth between the ice and your skin.
