Brown hair colour keeps fading - advice?

I have recently coloured my blonde hair a dark chocolate brown colour. I did everything right - I put a red through it first then put the brown (permanent dye) over the top. It looked great at first. But the colour has faded really quickly through the ends. I’ve dyed over it (with semi-permanent to try prevent a colour build up) several times but it fades so quickly. The roots of my hair hold the colour well and the rest of my hair looks like a really washed-out light brown. I’m guessing this is from having such bleached blonde hair before (see my pic!) which has damaged it and it can’t hold the colour? Is there anything I can do to fix this and make my hair an EVEN shade of cocolate brown? It looks crap from the back when I wear my hair down :(

If I didn’t do the red before brown it would have gone green - it happened to me before! lol. The red is the base colour for the brown, the hairdresser told me that. After 2 weeks from when I first coloured it it really started fading and the blonde was showing through, it looked BAD. So I put a semi-permanent in it which faded after another 2 weeks so I did it again. That’s where I am up to and it just isn’t holding the colour at all in the ends of my hair :(

well 1st of all how long in between are you waiting to dye it? and you really didnt need to do the red dye then brown. going from blonde to a brown shade would of been a better outcome for u. you may need to get your hair stripped then retry again. but this may take a month or 2. cause by stripping your hair it can damage your hair. or you can go too a hair salon and they will b able to get a better even tone as they have the more stronger dyes to do soo. good luck. =]

Hi! I have dyed my hair with Richesse Chocolate 4.15 which a a semi permanent colour. I was a bleach blonde before and I know how frustrating it can be. Right, this works… If you are happy with the shade of your roots and want to have the colour uniform through the ends too, you need to: Colour your roots with the chosen shade and then, Mix a darker shade (if you are on a 5.0 line, mix your 5.0 with a 4.0 and use this on the ends, or if your shade is for example a 4.3, mix it with a 3.3). It is always going to lighten as you come closer to doing your roots again but it will improve definitely over time.
As you know, you lose loads of hair in a day and if you add this up over a few months, a lot of your old blonde hair will have fallen out naturally anyway. If you are not sure about anything, ask your hairdresser or visit LÓreal Majirel application techniques. ALways shower your hair with your head in an upright position and never leaning over the bath with your head upside down as this will make the colour fade quicker too. Have to go now but if you want anymore advice, don´t hesitate to ask and as for thr previous comment DON¨T strip your hair again that is ridiculous!!! Good luck babe x
