boyfriend wants to be neighbors with best friend

My boyfriend, of 2 years, and I are planning for a our future together. he mentioned the other day that he thought it would be a good idea to live in a house next to one of his friends. Ie be neighbors with his best buddy. he is a very social person, and I really appreciate my alone time. I am against the idea of living so close to friends because it creeps me out…kind of like living with mommy. what do you guys think? is it normal for a man to want to be so close to his friends all the time, or should he be able to hold his own in life?

I think you should speak to him. Does he want to spend his life with you… or his best buddy? Most people grow distant from their friends as teenagers… I think you should seriously discuss this issue with him, unless you want him clearing off with his mates without you.

It sounds like he doesn’t necessarily want to grow up. When you move in with someone you become an adult but by keeping your friends close by then you can still act like the kid without responsibility. I wouldn’t move there, I would think that it would only cause problems but the ultimate decision is up to you.

he said that he thinks it would be fun to live next to his friends. he said he planned on spending a lot more time with them if they did…I get the impression that he just wants to play by those statements. does that help?

Personally I would feel the same way that you do. Does he have a good reason for it? Or does he just like the idea of being close to friends? I think that I wouldn’t decide until I found out why he wants to live there. If he’s doing it because he’s not ready to “live his own life” then it’s not a good idea, but like I said, we don’t know his reasoning and until you ask him you won’t either.
