Is it a good idea to major in Biology to be a Zoologist?

Well, I have alway had a extreme passion for animals.

I just graduated from High School, and Im looking into Community Colleges. I want to major in Zoology, but not even many Universities here have them. I do not want to move away, or have it too costly, since I am poor.

I read that you can major in Biology, and minor in Zoology.

If I did that, would I be able to call my self a Zoologist.

I want to work in Conservation or at a Santurary, if not, then a local Zoo.

Im just worried that, when I was in High School I had to take Special Ed. Science, but the only trouble with that was the Chemistry part, and some of the Cell part. Everything else, especially if it dealt with Ecology or Animals I excelled at.

So, Im wondering if this would work out, and if I would be able to call myself a Zoologist.

If you want to know, the college I’m looking into is Eastern Michigan University. I might start at Oakland Community College or Schoolcraft, then transfer.

Is this a good idea….HELP!

I think that sounds like a great idea, and I commend you for knowing what you want to do and working to get there!

Once you enroll in either university, you should speak with an academic advisor or guidance counselor. Before you start taking classes, explain to them what you want to do, and they can lead you in the right direction to be a zoologist.

Good luck.
