Best Digital Camera

What is the best digital camera? I am looking for something really small. I love taking pictures but my current camera is very bulky and I hate taking it around. It seems like the smaller the camera the fewer the features. Is this true. There are so many options out there I am having a very hard time deciding what to get.

Have a look at Nikon D40.
