Becoming a therapist

I’d love to become a therapist. Help people with mental illnesses like depression.

What sort of courses would I have to take? What GCSE’s? etc

I know I’m only 13, but I’d like to think about these things earlier.

How long would it take to study at Uni?

How much would I earn?

:) Thanks.

you’d have to take math and science courses. I don’t know which ones though. you’d have to stay in college for about 8 years you could earn something like $70 and hour depending on the state you live. if it all works out… I really need one. I have huge depression disorder.

It’s a little early, but I guess it’s never too early to prepare… just take general courses at O levels at A levels you’ll need to take psychology I dont know how it works in England…

In the states it’s 4 years of bachelors and then either 2 years masters of counseling 5 years pd counseling 5 years phd psychology 5 years psyd (doctor of psychology) 9 years md (4 years med school, 4 years residency, 1 year specialization to become a psychiatrist)

oh and it depends on what sort of degree you get and where you work, in the states, a masters level is about $70-80 an hour, a doctorate is about $100-150, a psychiatrist can earn $250-500
