Is it bad if your horse's hips are sticking out?

and if so, is it a weight or a health issue?? please help

Answer #1

You should be able to see a horses hips slightly but they shouldnt be sticking out or that noticeable. You need to take him to a vet to get checked out, its an obvious weight issue but most weight issues in animals are either caused by neglect, medical problems, or old age. In any case, he needs to see a vet.

mandyloo is right. if its hips are sticking out too much then it could be an issue but if you can slightly see the hips and a couple of the ribs, but only just see them then you are probably ok. i love horses and im sorry that your horse could be having problems. hope everythings ok. let us know
