If you are having asthma attacks, try drinking a hot cup of coffee, or stick your head in the freezer for a few minutes.I know that sounds funny but it works. Yes everyone’s answers are good ones, but you need to go to the docs and get put on asthma medicine asap.I hope this will help

Answer #2

what I do when I have an asthema attack is take allergy meds, it can help, drink lots of water, and take a really slow walk outside focusing on your breathing, but the best thing is to go to the doc, get an inhaler, or advair.

Okay, here is a great site that describes pursed breathing.

Here’s another for Asthma…same thing really… http://yourtotalhealth.ivillage.com/asthma-breath-management.html?pageNum=3

If you don’t have an inhaler handy then try not to do anything to hard or upsetting. Try closing your eyes and breathing slowly if you have any problems. That’s what I do.

Answer #5

Pursed breathing is probably what others are saying to do. The best way to do that is to sit quietly, relaxed (or you can lay) but it’s better to sit because of your lungs. Breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth. You get more Oxygen that way. Also, drink plenty of water. Water is so under-rated. I’m going to google to see if there is anything else. I have the same problem but I have COPD.

Answer #6

You really should get an inhaler or do you have a nebulizer at home? Those are really the only fast acting solutions… Steroids help if its bad, or singulair, but you’re still going to have to go to the doctor for that…

I really would suggest you go to the doctor or a school nurse or something… People have died from asthma, it isnt something you should take lightly…

A couple of things to keep in mind… keep calm, sit and close your eyes and just try and breathe in as deeply as you can if you feel like it is getting bad, sometimes steam from a bath can help with the breathing, avoid going up and down stairs, dont eat anything heavy, and try and eat small portions.

I hate to keep answering your question but I keep thinking of ways that might help and I can’t send fun mail. Sometimes, I wake up like that and I’m sweating too. It’s because I had a bad dream and it goes away in a few minutes if I just try to relax.

Another thing is that if you have any problems like Asthma, you may want to sleep a little elevated. Don’t sleep flat. When I sleep flat, I wake up out of breath. I don’t know if this will help but it doesn’t hurt to try.
