I’ve been on prozzac and zoloft.

prozzac worsened my depression, and I actually overdosed on my prozzac in attempt to kill myself. but they say that this happens to 2% of the people who take it.

zoloft.. I never got to actually take normally ‘cause I overdosed on that, too.

I’m on celexa and I’ve lost 5 lbs. while doubling my calorie intake b/c I’m constantly hungry! When I was on Prozac, I did gain quite a bit of weight!

Im on zoloft and have been for 3 years. Some side effects are dry mouth, light headed, Not sleeping, increased appitite and the list can go on. In saying that those symptoms dont last for that long and the end result is better than not taking them. Not all anti depresant medications are for everyone and thats why you have to keep taking the tablets for at least 3weeks to a month. You should never never ever stop taking them without your doctor telling you too as there are serious side effects of stoping sudenly. You have to actually be weened of them when the time is right. If you ever feel suicidal whilst taking the meds go straight to an ER. Some people have had suicidal feelings triggered while on these sorts of medication. Just know its the medication doing it and not really your brain. Good luck and if you need any more advice feel free to fun mail me. This is only a small amount of info that I have in my head after 3 years of taking the stuff.

I took lexapro for a month, and I was throwing up all the time (apparently not a normal side effect), I was also exhausted… I think everyone reacts differently to different meds, you may want to talk to your doctor, sometimes the side effects ease out over time… lexapro is supposed to be one of the meds with the least side effects (wellbutrin is another one)

I was put on Lexapro, gained a heckload of weight from it! Ended up more depressed then I started off being! =’(

Answer #6

this is what I came up with. I’ve been on a lot of diff meds and I’ve ended up being overmedicated on all of them so be careful if you notice any side effects please get help. Lexapro side effects Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: skin rash or hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Call your doctor at once if you have any new or worsening symptoms such as: mood or behavior changes, anxiety, panic attacks, trouble sleeping, or if you feel impulsive, irritable, agitated, hostile, aggressive, restless, hyperactive (mentally or physically), more depressed, or have thoughts about suicide or hurting yourself.

Call your doctor at once if you have any of these serious side effects:

*

  seizure (convulsions);
*

  tremors, shivering, muscle stiffness or twitching;
*

  problems with balance or coordination; or
*

  agitation, confusion, sweating, fast heartbeat.

Other less serious side effects are more likely to occur, such as:

*

  feeling nervous, restless, or unable to sit still;
*

  headache, trouble concentrating;
*

  drowsiness, dizziness;
*

  sleep problems (insomnia);
*

  nausea, diarrhea, heartburn;
*

  weight changes;
*

  decreased sex drive, impotence, or difficulty having an orgasm; or
*

  dry mouth, ringing in your ears.

Side effects other than those listed here may also occur. Talk to your doctor about any side effect that seems unusual or that is especially bothersome.

and this next thing is from wikipedia The side effect profile of escitalopram is close to that of other SSRIs, with nausea, somnolence, and gastrointestinal side effects reported as relatively common. Escitalopram, like other SSRIs, has been shown to cause sexual side effects in many patients.[14] Escitalopram is not associated with significant weight gain. For example, 0.6 kg mean weight change after 6 months of treatment with escitalopram for depression was insignificant and similar to that with placebo (0.2 kg).[15] 1.4-1.8 kg mean weight gain was reported in 8-month trials of escitalopram for depression,[16] and generalized anxiety disorder.[17] A 52-week trial of escitalopram for the long-term treatment of depression in elderly also found insignificant 0.6 kg mean weight gain.[18] Escitalopram may help reduce weight in those treated for binge eating associated obesity.[19] It may also cause dizziness after exercise in children.[citation needed]

A meta-analysis of clinical trials database conducted by the escitalopram manufacturer Lundbeck found no indication that escitalopram would provoke suicidal behaviour compared with placebo in patients with major depressive disorder and anxiety disorders, on the contrary, suicidal thoughts in the escitalopram group were significantly decreased.[20] An analysis conducted by the FDA found a statistically insignificant 1.5 to 2.4-fold, depending on the statistical technique used, increase of suicidality among the adults treated with escitalopram for psychiatric indications.[21][22][23] Similarly, the UK MHRA data indicate an 80% increase of suicide-related events, not reaching statistical significance, in the escitalopram vs placebo patients.[24] The authors of a related study note the general problem with statistical approaches—due to the rarity of suicidal events in clinical trials, it is hard to draw firm conclusions with a sample smaller than two million patients.[25] A single case report described a patient developing suicidal ideation after beginning treatment with escitalopram, and suicidal ideation disappearing after stopping the treatment.[26]
