i thihk u have to be careful as many breed for the “Agreesiveness” in pit bull, they are illegal where i live in Brisbane Australia, but i have heard they can be the nicest dogs, if trianed and socialized from an early age. Ifu honestly do your reserch and buy from a reptuable breed than focsus on breeding a dog with sound temperament then i dont think u will have a problem

Beautiful dogs! Very sensitive though. It’s very easy to hurt their feelings so dont boss them around too much. One thing they hate the most is abandonment. Be careful with them, they need attention like children, or you may end up with your own bad seed.

Pit bulls have a history that goes back to ancient times. The most fascinating is their loyal nature… which is the primary reason they have the negative reputation they have. Yes they are a powerful breed of dog and their jaws and teeth can inflict alot of damage that even other dogs can’t compare with. They were used for herding skiddish bulls and for family protection against other preditors back in the settlers days. They are a fierce breed that being the purpose they were bred for but they were also bred for their loyalty, protection, and bond with their human caregivers. Which is why they were the #1 American family pet back in the 40-50’s. The dog will do anything for it’s owneror or what it things they expect of it….hence those human with darker sides have brought about the worst in these animals and maligned an entire breed of dog. The same dog that if raised in a family and loving environment responds just as well in meeting those expectations. My son owns a male pit, also a female shephard/husky mix, plus kids. The pit has never once bit or nipped at anyone in the family nor people in and out of the house. The female shepard on the other hand has challenged everyone in the family at one time or another including the pit who runs when he knows she’s mad. The pit has also, going up to other dogs as he’s social, been bitten in the lip, ear, and face by a number of small dogs he went sniffing by…what does he do? Yelp and moves away. He could kill the shepard/husky if he ever turned on her, but he has no desire to do that and allows her to be the alpha. Bottom line, these dogs will be anything you as an owner want them to be. The only thing in getting one is to make sure you are getting a pit from a reliable breeder who nurtures the good qualities these animals possess.

Pit Bulls are good dogs in the hands of a good owner. Alot of people get them for the wrong reason. They are not a fashion accesory! Do not get one to complete your little ‘bad boy’ image. I fricken hate that!!!

Answer #9

I actually used to be terrified of Pitbulls until a few months ago. Despite growing up with a mother who has had dogs her whole life and having two of my own, I bought into the perception that Pitbulls are natural killers. A few months ago I started volunteering at Stray Rescue, a no-kill shelter that primarily rescues Pitbulls. I learned there that an important factor is the way that the dog is raised. They’re valued for their incredible strength and unfortunately many of them are raised in fight rings or as “bait dogs”. At Stray Rescue I’ve met pitbulls that do a total 180 after a trainer works with them and they learn to rebuild trust in humans. Many of the dogs there are gentler than my Golden Retriever, to be honest. I’m attaching a video taken at Stray Rescue of a Pitbull mix named Wojo, just because he’s one of my favorites :)

Answer #10

I have to agree Annie….I wouldn’t discount a rescue Pit ether. For anyone who doesn’t understand the loayalty of this breed…here’s some true life stories of …the other side of what Pits are about.

Thanks for answering, because there are a lot of opinions about them. One of my friend said: “Pit bulls should NOT be allowed in city limits, apartment complexes, mobile home parks, or any other “close quarter” communities where lots of kids are. Pit bulls are just too aggressive regardless of training”

There are left about a month to make my decision, but i think i probably will take this amazing dog..

Answer #12

love them to death

Answer #13

Alot of people think Pit Bulls are dangerous, man eating beasts. Naturally they aren’t. They get a bad rap because of us humans. For example, dog fighting. Pit Bulls are associated with this all the time. But, its not the dog’s fault. It was trained to do that. Most Pit Bulls are extremely loving and loyal dogs.

Answer #14

Most of the dogs are amazing animals. Only when raised by humans with a mean side, are these dogs mean bc they are loyal animals

Answer #15

Pits are great you really need to understand the breed before you get one. DO NOT BUY ONE FROM A BREEDER!!!!! get a rescue, there are too many homeless pits out there and buying from a breeder will just ad to the problem. Also I would get a pit before a Doberman, dobermans are very high strung and stubborn as hell a pit is a good starter.
