Allergic to hair colour creme?

I intended to dye my hair last time and I had bought the colour creme. The instruction says I need to do skin sensitivity test under my arm and I felt itchy after applying. One of my cousins said she was also allergic to the colour creme they applied on her in the salon. Does anyone experience allergic to hair colourer or is it just my genetic defect?

Lots of people are allergic to different things, without there being any ‘genetic defect’. The reason they included that ‘sensitivity test’ notice was precisely that people often DO react to the chemicals used..

The good news is that the many commercial hair colourings have differing blends of ingredients and strengths, so just because you got an itchy reaction to one doesn’t mean you’ll be allergic to every brand there is on the market. Keep trying!
