Does anyone else think abortion is murder?

In my opinion, YES I think it’s very cruel and harsh…I just wish people wouldn’t do that:(

The question of whether abortion is murder or not depends on the stage the embryo or fetus is in and whether it’s considered a “Human life” The argument that life begins upon conception is completely invalid in my opinion. After all, we are determining when HUMAN life begins and not just when “life” begins. If we are determining when life begins, then killing this “life” should not be a problem since morally it is o.k. to squash bugs, the bacteria that live on the chair we sit upon and cut down millions of trees. Some argue that it is when “life” begins, but it is special in this case because this “life” holds the possibility to become a human. But by that logic, not having sex is also killing a baby. A couple which is going to have sex but later decides not to is by that logic killing a baby. There could have been a possibility for a human life.

We should make contraception methods more available to PREVENT pregnancy instead of telling hormone enraged teens to just abstain from sex and ignore them hoping they do.

That’s the real issue isn’t it? If we effectively prevented unwanted pregnancy in the first place… we wouldn’t be asking this question.

Abortion is absolutely cruel. I thought about it w/ my 2 pregnancy cause I’m 17. I had the $ saved up & everything, but I’m so glad I didn’t cause my kids are what keep me going & my baby is SOOO cute. I love her personality & everything. I cry terribly when I think of what I was going to do. YOU SHOULD LOOK UP ABORTION PROCEDURES ON GOOGLE. it really depends on the situation. see imagine if you were like 10 and you got pregnant from some weird old demented sick guy. would you want to have his baby? carry that in you for 9 months? live with it for the rest of your life? its just sometimes needed. but for the people out there how just carelessly have sex unprotected whenever, you got your self into the mess of being pregnant, now you have to take care of your baby that you made.

Yes, I believe with all my heart that it is murder… plain and simple, for convenience sake, a child dies, before it ever is allowed to live. And if you study how its done, you would abhor it. Society takes better care of dogs than they do babies. And if they start killing old people, just because they want to, it will be a very scarry place to live indeed. The mothers womb should be the safest place on earth, however, abortion turns it into a horror chamber, removing the baby, one piece at a time, and there is no anesetic given to him or her, they feel every bit of the pain, but, since they are in the womb, noone can hear their cries. Nobody ever tells the mother how she may regret for the rest of her life the decision, either. She has many cheerleaders around her until the act is done, then, she is left alone with the consequences. To many it becomes a nightmare, one that is very hard to live with. Many have to go into counseling to be able to deal with what they have done, but, none of this is ever mentioned, only a pat on the back by planned parenthood, telling the mother, what a good thing it is that she is doing. And for those that believe in God, he calls it murder too. If people do not want children, they should be responsible, and not murder them, because they were not.

Why do the bishops say that when a public servant cannot stand up for the right to life, his stand for other human rights is “suspect?”

When one says that people have a “right” to be safe, free, educated, and economically secure, on what basis do these rights exist? Are they human rights, that belong to the person simply because he or she is human, and are therefore beyond the authority of anyone to take away? Or are they “rights” granted by those in power?

These rights cannot possibly be human rights if life itself isn’t a human right. And the public official who says abortion can be legal is saying that life itself is not a human right. This is because he or she is saying that some human beings (those in the womb) can be deprived of that right to life.

Bishop Elio Sgreccia, Vice-President of the Vatican’s Pontifical Academy for Life, stated, “Without respect for life, society simply does not exist…all [other] rights presuppose the right to life. If the right to life is not defended, the defense of all these other rights is useless. It becomes a lie, because it would mean that the defense to the right to work, to society, etc. applies only to some, and not to all” (May 2004 interview with Priests for Life).

This is also why the Pope can call the outcry for human rights “false and illusory” without the right to life.

Cardinal Renato Martino, President of the Vatican’s Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace, “The Holy Father speaks of the protection of life as the fundamental realization and respect for human rights. Without that respect for the right to life, no other discussion of human rights can continue; it must be based upon the foundation of human dignity and the right to life” (May 2004 interview with Priests for Life).

In short, to allow legalized abortion is an attack on the entire moral order. If abortion is not wrong, nothing is wrong. If it is wrong, civilization will not survive unless it is set right.

in 2001 I had a misscarraige, it broke my heart. unfortunatly the baby would not leave me, so I had to have a D&C to remove it. that’s one of the procedures that is used to kill/remove a baby in an abortion. I can’t stand to think of someone choosing to kill a baby that way. it’s murder!

The fact remains that there is no definative moment that life can begin other than conception. In high school my Spanish teacher delivered a baby 5 months premature (roughly 20 weeks in the womb). He was born and lived outside the mother without “enough life defining features”; he survived and is living a healthy life.

I have seen several people use the argument from rape. While it is a compelling argument, I ask you to seriously consider this question: should we be allowed to take a convicted rapist, saw off his arms and legs without anesthesia and crush his skull? The courts would deem that treatment cruel and unusual punishment under the 8th ammendment. If we aren’t allowed to do it to the rapist, why can we do it to the child?

captainassassin is right when he says that you never know what you will do until you’re put in that situation. That is one reason why I think that there is a desperate shortage of crisis pregancy centers. We shouldn’t judge the people who feel like there is no other option, but we need to seperate the person from the act. The people need care and support. The action in itself is intrinsically wrong; it is taking the life of an innocent person, which is never justifiable under any circjumstances.

I think that under certain circumstances, like rape, which I would imagine is one of the most terrifying and degrading things that could happen to a woman, it is up to that person and they shouldn’t be judged based on their decision, in other cases, like unprotected sex, it is irresponsible and cruel to have an abortion. Adoption is the best way to go and people should deal with the consequences of their actions.

Know what’s funny…when you kill a person as an adult you get 25- life…kill an embryo before it’s 20 wks it’s ok. After 20wks, unless it’s a miscarriage, then it’s murder. Even if it’s someone else that forces the loss of your baby after 20 wks they are charged with MURDER! TAKING A LIFE IS TAKING A LIFE, ANY WAY YOU LOOK AT IT IS MURDER. But if it’s before 20 wks oh it’s ok because they’re not fully developed and blah blah blah…I had a baby out of wedlock but was married to the babies father 2 months after the baby was born. Stuff happens and if you’re stupid enough to get pregnant too young then take responsibility for your stupidity and either adopt the baby out or keep either way it’s a big and hurtful change to your life and your body. The thing is only 1% of abortion is done due to to prevent rape/incest-related pregnancy. If you got raped and told someone like a sensible person would, you could also get a morning-after pill to prevent any pregnancy. It’s not always effective, but it helps reduce the number.

In the meantime, the people who cause the 99% of abortion still need to explain themselves. Start wearing condoms or get your tubes tied or something.

Are you NOT AWARE that not all pregnancies are the result of NEGLIGENCE?! Personally I don’t believe that abortion is murder. It is NOT a fully functioning human being at the moment it is conceived. What about rape victims huh? Should those women be FORCED to have the child of a man that sexually abused them? Does that sound right to you? Or what about couples that used protection but it failed? Since by having an abortion you are killing a human being, of course it is murder. Having an abortion will send you to Hell, just the same way as killing anyone else.
