What do I need to know to become an actress?

So I am 16 and I live in Australia. I really want to be an actress/singer. I hate to sound like i’m blaming where I live but it’s really hard to become what I want to be living here :(. My dream is work on a show like Glee and I wish I lived in the US so I could audition for the glee project but I don’t so…. Does anyone have any kind of advice on getting myself out there and working towards my dream? :)

Everyone wants be an actress and all, including me, but it’s hard work I guess. u can go to a drama school or something. There is one in NYC and I’m sure in many more places. The best way for you to ‘get out there’ is by joining a college around the USA. That way, you’ll also get an education and u can try to follow your dream of becoming an actress:) I don’t really know much about these things but hope I helped:)

Adding to YourLostLOVE’s answer you could also become a producer or director. A lot of people who make shows star in their own shows such as Tina Fey. Good luck!

Let’s not forget Fran Drescher with “The Nanny” & “Happily Divorced” ….did Roseanne make “Roseanne” the show?

Answer #8

Experience. Some people may choose to take a Drama GCSE to improve Drama skills or participate in school productions. Of course, you don’t need to have any Drama qualifications but the experience helps; my boyfriend didn’t do a GCSE in Drama but was scouted by some people for a local Drama school because they saw he performing in a school play. Showing that you have done Drama-related activities really helps and continuing onto to Drama school after compulsory education shows that you’re willing to stick at it and improve.
