Why does my throat crack when I sing or talk?

I’m being honest here, every time i sing or talk or yell or something, my voice like cracks ;$ It’s been like that for as long as i can remember and idk if it’s something in my throat cause i feel something in there, like even when i sing . . i have a really hard time hitting high notes because this one part in my throat is like, idk if “clogged” is the word but .. ya it just doesn’t let the note come out and it just cracks . . idk if it’s a build up of mucas or .. i don’t even know. Like i have no clue!! and its making me mad cause when i talk i sound like a dude going through puberty -.- u know how embarrassing that is? So ya. all i wanted to know is . .Why does my throat do that? :)

Mine does too, and I often sound like a boy going through puberty D: lol. But I’ve deduced that you don’t use enough air when you speak, or that you’re talking from your throat and not from your lungs. Especially when it comes to singing… Talking and singing is much like playing an instrument. If you don’t use enough air, you get a poor and cracky sound.

Perhaps you are straining your vocal cords from not singing properly? Either that or you just need to strengthen with some regular singing exercises. As for yelling it could just be that you have a naturally weaker voice.

I know for a fact that when I started singing/screaming I was struggling, but in time I got better at it, was able to hold notes and not ‘crack’ my voice/throat.

Oh, I will give you one more piece of advice, when you sing you should try to sing from your diaphragm, or from your stomach. If you sing from the throat you will wear your voice out, and that hurts!

It’s the same as working out, provided your technique is correct (and safe) you will get stronger and better over time! :)
