What is an "alto saxophone finish"?

Someone Asked me what was the finish of my alto saxophone and i was just wondering what that is

Most saxophones are polished brass protected with a lacquer finish. Most older instruments have a nitrocellulose lacquer while most newer instruments have a tougher epoxy lacquer finish.
