Witzenhausen is a little town located at the lower Werra river in North Hesse. It is widely known for its extended cherry gardens which surround the town and will give you a favourable view when visiting Witzenhausen during the blossom of cherries. Furthermore Witzenhausen is known for the department of organic agriculture, which is part of the University of Kassel. This university's department gives Witzenhausen the title of being the smallest town in Germany that has a university. But nevertheless the town still consists of several smaller villages which are really picturesque and worth a visit by cycling or walking.
