Why do people go emo?

What is emo? And goth?? All I think of when I here emo and goth is people who dress in black and are depressed!

Answer #1

I think its because of something that’s going on in their life that makes them unhappy…so they hurt themselves sometimes…pick on people…dress black…and different…dont smile..I don’t know that what ithink.

Answer #2

they choose to be this way for many reasons:

  1. they are depressed about something(s) that has (have) happened in their life. “cutters” cut because that’s their way of expressing their sadness, and it lets out most of their emotional pain my feeling physical pain.
  2. they like the music and the style has a huge influence on them.
  3. some people (myself included) think that all the black clothing and makeup along with fair skin makes them more attractive.
Answer #3

emo’s do not hurt themselves and do not cut. that’s called cutters. if cutters consider themselves emo, they’re either lying or do not know the deffinition of emo. goths are not depressed. they simply do not like bright colours so they wear such as black and red. emo’s wear black and blue to describe how they’re feeling. emo’s can be happy, but emo’s have depression. even if they do not like it, they cannot control the sad feelings, and if DOES NOT make them want to cut. hope this helped.

Answer #4

and just like so many people, your wrong neither sterotypes have anything to do with depression anyone in the world can get depressed, even you because everyone has problems that sometimes they cant handle black is just a colour of dress to choose from, among the many other colours to choose from what you wear doesnt represent how you feel only your brain will tell you that jocks, nerds, preps, ect kids, grown ups, old people, ect they can ALL get depressed depression or self harm has nothing to do with any particular sterotype
