Why do people cuss so much these days?

I didn’t even know the f word until I got into high school. Two summers ago I was babysitting my six- and nine-year-old cousins and when the six-year-old had to go to time out and started saying “f” it, “f” it, “f” it! And I hear it so much at school!!! Is it because people have used them so much that they don’t carry as much weight as they used to so people don’t know they’re bad? (And I know there’s a whole ‘nother can of worms with the whole concept of “bad” words, like what’s bad and who defines bad) (But I think you get the gist…)

Answer #1

Breakdown in core values - lack of being taught right from wrong at home and God kicked out of schools and many homes - a downward spiral unfortunately.

Answer #2

I’m in my mid 20’s and anyone who knows me knows I do not curse. You know what I think about kids who curse? They’re screaming, yelling, begging, and pleading inside for attention! They realize that when they curse, their regular sentence is now louder. That’s why they do it. In other words, they’re lonely kids craving for attention whether it’s good or bad. Like a dog for example. He knows he’ll get in trouble if he chew up your shoes but because you won’t pay any attention to him, he does it to his advantage to get your attention.

This note is to flameofwater. Kids learn from their parents then their peers. When cursing becomes a habbit and apart of your regular language, sometimes you’ll say it without even knowing it or when you do realize it, you’ve already said it infront of your child(ren). Your kid(s) will learn from you and use that same type of language. And so the world goes round…

Answer #4

Yeah, I understand what you mean. A lot of people do use it TOO freely sometimes. Like, I only curse when I’m around my friends and ONLY them. I usually don’t curse when I’m around other people unless someone pisses me off of course. I was out snowboarding today and I heard 12 year-old say f and s!!! That is just wrong!!! When I have a kid, if I ever hear him/her say anything like that I would kill him/her (not literally).

Answer #5

It makes life more interesting and funnier. In my opinion. A lot of other people think it’s repulsive. Oh well!!!

Answer #6

I know how you feel, I once say thin short documentary on why people curse, some people said it was so people listen when you talk. people always raise their heads when they hear a bad word. I agree w/ that, I also think that it helps you express yur anger, rather than w/ violence

Answer #7

They think it’s cool, their friends do it, use it to bad talk, use it as a way to drill their anger. Or something like that.

Answer #8

I only cuss around my friends, not around anyone else… I think it’s hilarious when people cuss! Only if it’s not not when they’re pissed or something, when they’re cussing for fun I think it’s funny!

Answer #9

Because they aren’t smart enough to find other words to use.
