Why do american people think irish people are always drunk?

…why do some Irish people think Americans stereotype Irish people as drunken leprechauns?

Not all americans think that way. No one I know thinks that way. I just think Irish people talk cool. Then again, I don’t know all of america.

It’s like asking why do Irish people think all american people think the same?

Its just ONE of the countless generalizations/stereotypes in the world.

I’m american, but my heritage is both Irish & Italian.

I for one am a complete drunkie, my daily life consists of cannabis & beer .

Almost 80 % of the Irish people I meet are proud of this stereotype, and live up to it quite well ;]

dude I have no clue I thinks it horrible though my friend falon is form Ireland and she is the coolest person evr and she doesnt drink. I guess it’s all about sterotypes and how people choose to believe them instead of actually looking at pplz for who they are. I as an american have never thought of falon as a drunk. or a leprecaun.

I think Irish people are cool and everyone should respect other people’s religions and cultures and everything. We don’t need no racism or anything. I love how I Irish people talk. It is so cool. Well, I don’t think every Irish person drinks. Like my math teacher he has Irish descends and his people don’t drink and if they do they don’t drink like all the time. Like only occasionally. So yeah!!! and I gotta say, “For them haters, let them hate!!!”
