Which is better, laser or inkjet printers?

I’m deciding which printer to buy for my new spiffy Mac. But some people say one is more expensive than the other – in terms of upkeep. Which ones do you have, and what can you say about it?

Answer #1

It really depends on the printer. You can get equal quality out of both printers.

Inkjet is less expensive in the short term, but your page count for $$ spent on ink is much lower. (more money spent per print)

While with a laser printer there is a much larger investment up front, but your page yield for each $$ you spent is higher. (less money per print)

Most home users use Inkjet b/c they don’t do large amounts of print, and color laser machines are spending. If you are doing a moderate amount of printing, especially if they are black and white a laser printer can be a good investment.

Answer #2

Laser printers are a lot of many and the ink is a lot more money aswel, If it’s for home use just buy and inkjet printer.

Answer #3

I find that an inkjet costs more to uphold. Laser printer cartridges are more expensive, but it’s faster and you get a lot more paper per cartridge vs an inkjet.

In terms of office use I would suggest a laser printer because you’ll only be printing on one type of paper, whereas inkjet printers can print on ANY paper out there, even mulberry paper and I feel that they are better suited for photo printing etc.

Answer #4

I’ve always used canon inkjet printers…

at the mo im still using a Pixma MP130 I bought 3 years ago and its still going strong

brill build quality and the ink is pretty affordable… I get through around 3 black and 2 color per year

Answer #5

A laser printer cost more but the quality is much better. An inkjet printer is less expensive but doesn’t print as hight quality prints.
