Ya, it's a religion. My friend is Wiccan. It's hard for me to explain. I'm sure someone who is wiccan can explain much better than me. My friend does all kinds of weird things like 'play with her energy' she can feel it between her hands.

it is strange to me but interesting. I found this

Wicca is a religion based, in part, on ancient, northern European Pagan beliefs in a fertility Goddess and her consort, a horned God. Although the religion is a modern creation, some of its sources pre-date the Christian era by many centuries. Most Wiccans do not believe that their religion is a direct, continuous descendent of this earlier religion. They see it as a modern reconstruction.

I was also going to add the thing about earth, water, fire and air. My friend calls to those 4 corners before she does spells.

it's an earth baste religion
only a few hundred year at the very max I'ld say
but it's origins are much older
it draws inspiration from ancient practices such as pagan, Celtic, druid, etc
it's mostly elemental, herbal, & blue magick, white(basically just the simple good kind)
they practice their magick mostly inside a circle, as do most magic probationers(no I didn't spell magic wrong, it's spelt with a K to decider real magic from the kind illusionist do)
it's a recognized religion in which you believe in at least 1 God & Goddess
they use tools more often then most witches & it's not too common to find one outside a coven, least it didn't use to be common, you might find solemn Wiccans now a days though
it's an interesting practice to get into.
I'm not Wiccan myself, I'm a witch
I just practice the art of magick basically.
Though I share similar beliefs it's not quite that of a Wiccan & I practice a broader range of magick,
though I do know quite a few Wiccans.
If you're interested in learning it me know.
It takes a year & a day to become 1

It branches off the older religion Paganism. I used to be Wiccan but now I'm Agnostic. They generally praise the elements. I do know though that on a Pentegram each point represents an element with one added to it. Earth, Fire, Wind, Water, and Spirit but it's been so long I cannot remember if that is correct.

*thex13thxchild* that was one of the best decriptions I've seen yet, bravo. yes Wicca is a religion, however as the 13th child has implyed beeing wiccan and being a witch is 2 indepentant things. the pratic of witchcraft or magick is being a witch. beliving in the things wiccans do is being a wiccan. Wiccans take ouths to never do black magick, that is magic with the intent to do harm. in our rede it says 'eight words the wiccan rede fulfil, and no harm done do as ye will' this means only good magick and taking responcablity for the results of our magick. a witch hasnt made that outh. that dosnt mean they automaticly to black magick. however the very nature of magick implys the rule of three. anyone how tells you they can avoid or block karma or the rule of 3 dosnt know what their taliking about. the rule of 3 is , what ever you send out, good or bad, come back to thee, this isnt only in magick but in life too.

thanks blankman, you've done a good job yourself, I forgot to mention the rede.

I've done a lot of typoes though XD
I really do need to slow down & pay attention to what I type

It's magick practitioners by the way, not probationers as I recently typed, just wanted to through that out there 1_~

& yes, as cook111 said, magick isn't good or evi as nature isn't either, it all depends on the pracictioner. But be weary what you do, there is not excaping the 3 fold law it's in all magicl practicies & in life itself.

& yes gizmo, that is correct ^_^
spirit at the top, earth at the top left corner, then air at the top right, fire bottom right, & water bottem right. Upright it means spirit over material matter & inverted(the ones Satanist most commonly use( means material matter over the spirit, which can stunt spiritual growth if you value material matter to the point it drives you to greed.

Old religion refers to the religion of nature, where man learns to commune with all of creation. This unstructured religion is known as Wicca, the most famous practtitioner is Merlin of the King Arthur legends. The religion is very personal, without any form of gospel, and practiced for self enlightment. It is simply a study of nature, its forces, its pattern, and ways to communicate with it. Unfortunately, wicca has been lost and replaced by 'witchcraft'. The sad part is losing the inherent beauty of the art, being replaced by something less than spiritual.
